HOW TO DEAL WITH SHY BOYS?!!!!?

So there's this boy that I've been talking to and hooking up with for the past month or so... We have been hanging out almost every night, but he is horrible at making conversation via text- He acts almost apathetic, but when we are together, he tells me how much he likes me. He told my friend that he really likes me. I'm so frustrated because I haven't seen him in a few days and he has texted me every day but he never acts like he really wants to see me via text. I've only hung out with him when he's with his friends also. He has never asked me on a date. And he's so shy!!!!! What am I supposed to do? I'm SO FRUSTRATED! This has been going on for way too long.
