BF: Bad Company unlocks?

I just bought the BF: Bad Company and im wondering how to unlock things like the auto injector and other unlockables. I played the demo and got to the fullest rank and did unlock the auto injector and that free gun but i'm wondering does that ranking system not apply in the new one? So im ust curious of how to attain the unlockables.
