Federal PLUS Loan for columbia college chicago?

im going to attend columbia college chicago in the spring semester, i just received my award letter and it shows that i will receive a Plus loan of over $10,000. i did research online that said that my parent would need to get a credit check. my question is because my school is a directing lending school does that mean that i am already qualified for the loan or does that mean thats how much i can get if i qualify, i sent them a verification of my dependency, what should i do next for those who go to a direct lending school or if anyone goes to columbia college chicago that has this loan.
