Had anyone of you stayed in Pan Pacific hotel for TRANSIT in Kuala Lumpur (KL), Malaysia?

I'm travelling to my home country next month from Beijing, and I have a transit of more than 12 hours in KL, and MH airline is giving us free accomodation in Pan Pacific Hotel. You know, that the hotel is IN the airport, and we have to take the aero bus (sky train) to go to the hotel. I have some friends staying in KL, so I was wondering will be able to go out of the hotel to meet with them into the city? I'm not really sure how it's gonna go, so someone could yo please explain whether or not that I would be able to go out to the city during my transit? Coz I heard something like you need a transit visa, and plus, you don't go OUTSIDE to go to the hotel, its just by the sky train? Thanks for your help in advance
