How do you clean out a coffee maker?

Like the back part where you pour in the water, and the other part where the filter and coffee goes. The water part is starting to get a little mildew in it, are there any good home supplies I could possibly use, or if you don't know of any home supplies..tell me what to buy..thank you, and I hope you all understand what I am talking about.
